A three-year-old girl and a woman were killed while several others were injured when the truck they were riding crashed on a creek at Sta. Rita, Upper La Paz before noon last Wednesday.

Killed were Jasmine Mendoza and Susan Dagpin. The former died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that the truck was going down from Camp Susana carrying vegetables when the driver Alex Ebol noticed an incoming motorcycle running at high speed near a creek at Sta. Rita.

Ebol tried to evade a collision but he lost control of the steering wheel sending the truck onto the creek.

Mendoza sustained fractures in the head and body and died on the spot.

Dagpin was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Some of the injured victims were identified as Epitanio Francisco, Emily Francisco, Josephine Francisco, Ronnie Fernandez, Arlyn Cortez, Rodel Mendoza, Ester Alberto, and Innocencio Alberto. They were rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.–Dan Toribio Jr.
