Kagawad hurt, son killed in ambush PDF Print E-mail

The son of a barangay councilman of Muti in the east coast was killed while his father escaped unhurt in an ambush yesterday morning.

Killed was Udi Amajad y Salbin, 20, a businessman. He sustained a bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.

A report from the Curuan Police Station disclosed that Udi was driving a motorcycle with his father Kagawad Abdila Jalalon Amajad back riding on their way to the barangay hall of Muti to attend a session, when the ambush took place.

Police said that at Purok 1, a man armed with an Armalite rifle, blocked their path and opened fire on them.

The gunman was later identified as Julham Hassim Mali, brother of the late Muti Kagawad Edgar Mali, who was also gunned down while driving a motorcycle several weeks ago.

Udi was hit in the head and fell on the ground. His father Kagawad Abdila pulled out his .38 cal.  revolver and returned fire on Mali.

According to the report, Mali was also hit in the body but was able to escape.

The Curuan police recovered a spent shell of M16 rifle at the crime scene.

Policemen have mounted a hot pursuit operation for the arrest of the killer.

The late Mali was killed in a he third gunslay attempt in Barangay Muti recently.
