Rice and corn farmers from the east coast get a boost this week as 2nd District Rep. Erbie A. Fabian is set to formally turn over 10 brand-new, state of the art, mobile rice and corn milling equipment to pinpointed farmer-beneficiaries in several grains producing areas in District II.

The funds utilized in the purchase of the post harvest equipment came from the 2nd district solon’s PDAF or Priority Development Assistance Fund for agriculture.

The farm implements will be distributed starting this Friday afternoon, May 25th to coincide with the visit of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala in Culianan during a symbolic turn over ceremony.

Secretary Alcala will witness the turnover of the farm implements to be conducted by Cong. Fabian through the facilitation of the City Agriculture Office under Diosdado Palacat.

Fabian in a pre-turn over statement said the farm implements will help cut down costs of farmers in milling their harvested grains which eventually will redound to bigger earnings of local grains producers.

The 2nd district solon added, the city’s grains produce has over the years has declined considerably that the city now is a net importer of grains for its consumption and providing better farm implements for local rice and corn farmers will hopefully encourage them to produce more in the near future.

Fabian is a staunch supporter of agricultural productivity in the city and the drive for food self sufficiency in the city.
