Alcala in Sibugay on Friday to see its rubber roadmap PDF Print E-mail

Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Rommel Jalosjos will welcome  the arrival of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala  in Ipil on Friday.

The purpose of Sec. Alcala’s visit in Sibugay is to see the rubber roadmap of  Zamboanga  Sibugay which positions itself as the No. 1  Rubber Producer Capital  in the country.

Tailing Sibugay are North Cotabato and Basilan.

Since holding office in 2010,  Gov. Jalosjos worked hard for the province to become the No. 1 rubber producer capital in the country.
Benefiting from the rubber industry in the province are rubber farmers and producers.

It has become the No. 1 program of Jalosjos to uplift the economic acitivties of the farmers and improve their lives so that they can send their children to school for a brighter future.

Other programs of Gov. Jalosjos are eco-tourism, and acitivities focused on agriculture and fishefolks as the province produces aquaculture products that find their way to Manila, Cebu  and other cities in the country.

Jalosjos said that currently the province has 52,000 hectares of rubber plantations.

He said his administrationwill expand the production this year into 91,000 hectares.

Starting this June up to December, all farmers will start planting rubber. Once the rubber trees are fully grown in  three or five years. It will produce rubber extract.

Jalosjos also founded a regional cooperative for farmers. The name of the cooperative is Zamboanga Peninsula Peacekeepers Rubber Producers Cooperative. — Allen Abastillas
