A 31-year-old man was killed while five others were injured in a grenade explosion in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay at dawn yesterday.

A police report identified the fatality Leo Lyndon Maghuyop Y Batano, single, of Purok Aguinaldo. He died on the spot due to multiple shrapnels in the different parts of his body. Injured were Baltazar M. Hilario, 35, jobless and married, Apple V. Quintilla, 18, of Purok Mabini, Jonamae O. Antin, 16, of Buug, Jomarry O.  Antin, 17, anf Novelyn A. Angcon 24, married, of Buug.

The report said the explosion took place at a parlor game at Purok Rizal, Barangay Poblacion around 2:45 a.m.

Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles directed Sibugay Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Ruben Cariaga to conduct thorough investigation of the grenade blast and coordinate with local leaders for the identity of the grenade thrower and his possible arrest.

Meanwhile, six people were rescued by the police and the concerned individuals during a landslide in Bayog Tueday afternoon. Only one person suffered only  slight injury in the incident. — Allen Abastillas
