Lightning kills teenager; 5 others hurt in Curuan PDF Print E-mail

A teenager was killed while five others were injured after a lightning struck two sitios (settlements) in Curuan before noon last Tuesday.

A sketchy report from the Curuan Police Station disclosed that a lightning hit Sitio Presa and Sitio Camias killing 17-year-old Jayvee Columbres of Presa.
The five injured were identified as Wilbert Gregorio y Andico, 23, married, Elvin Andico y Francisco, 15, both of Sitio Presa, Asa Asing y Hussin, 12,
Alguazen Gorge, 32, and Bernalyn Asan y Alawaddin, 15, all of Sitio Camias.

The victims sustained burns in their body and were taken to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital where Columbres was declared dead on arrival by physicians.

The five others were confined for further medication. They were pronounced out of danger.

Residents said that around 11 a.m., their place experienced inclement weather during which they heard loud thunderstorm and saw lightning struck the two sitios which resulted in the death of Columbres and caused injuries to five others. – Dan Toribio Jr.
