Lobregat releases cash aid to fire, flood victims PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat distributed yesterday afternoon the city government’s cash assistance amounting to P168,000 to 46 families who were victims of flashfloods and fire incidents that occurred in different barangays of this city over the past three months.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Francisco Barredo said that among the recipients of the cash assistance were 15 families, whose houses were totally destroyed by the calamity, 30 house renters and 1 house sharer.

To recall, a flashflood occurred last May 1 in Barangay Manicahan, east of this city where 26 families were rendered homeless. Two of them were house owners and received P5,000 each as their houses were totally damaged, while 26 others received P3,000 each for their partially-damaged homes.

On April 16, strong wind with rain and big waves hit Barangay Sangali, also in the east coast, totally destroying eight houses. The house owners received P5,000 each for a total of P40,000.

The following day, April 17, a house was totally damaged and three others were partially damaged by fire in Talon-Talon. Owner of the totally damaged house received P5,000, while three received P3,000 each for a total amount of P14,000.

Another fire broke out in Barangay Mampang, affecting six houses, of which three were totally damaged, two partially damaged and 1 house sharer.

Campo Islam was also hit by fire last March 27 with one house totally damaged. On March 22, another fire was reported in Sta. Catalina with also one house partially damaged. — Vic Larato
