The legal counsels of neophyte Councilor Jihan Edding led by noted election lawyer Quirino Esguerra Jr. yesterday filed a motion with the First Division of the Commission on Elections in Manila asking the poll body to reconsider its resolution that declared Miguel "Mike" Alavar instead of Edding as the lawful winner in the May 10, 2010 elections.

Edding said his lawyers received a copy of the Comelec resolution only on November 25 or more than a week after it was reported to the media.

Because last Monday was declared as holiday, Edding's camp decided to handcarry to the Comelec's First Division the motion for reconsideration through Atty. Esguerra

Edding reiterated and assured that she is not totally bothered by the Comelec decision which acted favorably on the electoral protest of LDP bet Mike Alavar who asked the Commission to annul her winning votes in the May 10, 2010 elections.

Edding said she is undaunted and will continue to do her job as councilor under District 2.

“With this development I am driven more to prove myself that I am worthy of the mandate of the people who elected me as their representative and voice in the City Council,” said Edding, who is the daughter of the late councilor Asbi Edding.

The lady alderman emphasized that under the Rules of Proceedings, her camp has five days within which to submit the motion for reconsideration and pleadings to the commission.
