ARMM teachers undergo training on financial literacy PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Education in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is a recipient of a Financial Literacy Training for Teachers scheduled on May 28-June 10,2012.

The training is  being conducted in partnership with the Notre Dame University of Cotabato City.

Lecturer Joseph Castillon disclosed that the one-day training is held by each province of ARMM. They  started in Basilan on May 28 and proceeded to Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It will continue in  Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.

Castillon said teachers will be taught on how to handle their financial budgeting and learn on how to save a little.

During the training, teachers are advised not to spend too much on unnecessary things or items that are not  important to their daily basic needs.
Teachers are likewise warned not to borrow money from loan sharks charging excessive interest .

The lectures will also emphasize on values formation on social issues and responsible budgeting.

Certified Public Accountant Sitti Anida Tomawis said that teachers will be trained on technical accounting  and budgeting on personal cash flow and expenses and filing of Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Networth. They will also be trained on how to invest in small scale business for them to have an additional income for their family. — Allen Abastillas
