“Let’s declare Zamboanga City as a ‘tourism zone’ so that we can benefit from the various incentives that the government provides for tourism investors.”
Thus how Zamboanga City mayoralty aspirant Romeo “Nonong” Jalosjos wants to do first if he’ll get elected as the local chief executive.

Jalosjos, who organized the ZTZ group (Zamboanguenos for the Transformation of Zamboanga), included this as one of the 25-point agenda, which he described as “easy to do as I’ve experiences in  tourism promotion.”

The former Zamboanga del Norte congressman said the first thing that comes into his mind on tourism promotion is the Pasonanca Park as it was already popular in the past and that Zamboanga City was always associated with the beautiful garden of Pasonanca.

Pasonanca was even awarded as the best garden park during the time of President Manuel Quezon.

“We used to play in that park and Pasonanca swimming pool,” Jalosjos recalled as he emphasized that he was born and grew up in Zamboanga City, countering the claim that he is an “outsider” and “alien.”

Jalosjos, described by his business associates as a visionary leader, said his priorities for tourism promotion are the Pasonanca Park, Sta. Cruz Islands, Fort Pilar and some others, which he called as”truly Zamboanga beauty spots.”

Jalosjos said he doesn’t need to brag as he has already proven with the establishment of the world-class Dakak Resort and the Gloria Fantasyland in Dapitan City. These resorts are now employing hundreds of local residents and are giving income to traders in that area.
