District 1 Congresswoman Beng Climaco’s livelihood training programs for different sectors in the city continues without let up, as the solon envisions the program as a way of helping ensure the wellbeing of family members amidst the economic crisis.

As the school year begins, livelihood training programs, undertaken jointly with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will be in full swing in starting today, June 4. Teams from the congressional office and TESDA will train beneficiaries of senior citizens’ associations.

On June 11, it will be the turn of urban poor associations and in the succeeding weeks, the beneficiaries of livelihood trainings will be women’s organizations of various barangays.

“Our work continues in empowering women and men, young and old in our communities. We teach our people how to fish because that’s how sustainability can be measured”, Cong. Climaco, who is the House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao emphasized.

Various sectors are now benefiting from vocational and technical programs being implemented by the lady solon in partnership with TESDA. These programs have been implemented since the start of her term in 2007.

She said these livelihood training activities are meant to help constituents augment income in the family. This, she stressed, is also in line with her advocacy to empower women especially the mothers to help in earning income for the family.
