Kidnappers struck anew in Zamboanga Sibugay snatching two Chinese nationals in Barangay Francisco I. Peña, Kabasalan last Monday night.

A police report identified the two kidnap victims as Jampong Lin and Lou James of Guandong,  China. They were seized by six armed men aboard a white van  around 8 p.m.

Witnesses said the kidnappers and their hostages aboard the white van proceeded to Sitio Olingan, Barangay Salipyasing apparently exiting Kabasalan.
The van was later found burned and abandoned along the seashore in Salipyasing.

It was not known what the two Chinese nationals were doing in Kabasalan as no other details were available about the latest abduction in the area.
Hot pursuit operations by the police and military supported by helicopters were ongoing as of press time.

The kidnapping came as police authorities are exerting efforts to secure the release of a retired Australian soldier who was seized by gunmen from his home.

Warren Rodwell was snatched from his house in Green Meadow Subdivision in the village of Lower Pangi in the seaside town of Ipil last December.

Rodwell was recently reported to have been taken to Basilan and was reportedlly ill under captive.

Rodwell, 53, is married to a 27-year old Filipina and has been a resident of Ipil for almost a year when he was abducted.

Before Rodwell, Luista Galvez, wife of a British national and owner of a beauty parlor was kidnapped in Ipil last year. She was freed early this year.

One more kidnap victim, Mayor Jeffrey Lim of Salug, Zamboanga del Norte, is still in captivity in that province. — Dan Toribio Jr.
