ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Philippines Association of Education Supervisors ( PAES),Region 9 Chapter held its 1st Annual Convention with theme “ES: The Caring Educators With a

Mission for Learners’ Excellence” at the Cecilles Pension Haus, Tumaga, Zamboanga
City on June 7 and 8, 2012.

The Convention aims to: Provide a venue for articulation between and among Education Supervisors on the K-12 Program and other pressing issues; update them on the current DepEd programs and thrusts; equip them on the needed knowledge, skills and attitudes to be advocates, promoters, implementers and monitors of the K to 12 program; reawaken their passion in achieving learners’ excellence; and to strengthen and sustain the strong bond of relationship among PAES members by organizing this association for cohesiveness of purpose through election of Regional Officers.

The participants in this activity are Education Supervisors (ES 1) (Division) and ES II (Region). Their attendance were on official business.

A registration fee of P2,300 was charged each participant to cover expenses for one-night and two- day accommodation, meals, honoraria of speakers, writing materials and other expenses relative to the conduct of the convention.

Keynote speaker was Director Lolita Andrada of DepEd’s Bureau of Secondary Education.

Other speakers were PAES President Carmen Hicap who is an Education Supervisor of the National Capital Region; Supt. Ronald Pozon of Balanga, Bataan, Pedro Melchor Natividad, Zamboanga City Schools Division OIC, who spoke on DedEd programs and thrusts on elementary and secondary levels; Dr. Victoria Mangaser, MTB/MLE Coordinator; Dr. Maybelle B. Tee, Education Supervisor on Social Studies, who spoke on Personality Development, and DepEd Asst. Regional Director Sharif Adzhar Sarahadil, who spoke on Clinical Supervision and Observation.
