DILG sets meetings on disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is conducting a series of Regional Tapatan on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation in all regions nationwide.

DILG Regional Director Paisal Abutazil said the activity aims to guide the local government units (LGUs) in effectively crafting their respective Local Disaster Reduction Action Plans.

They will also appraise the local officials of their roles and responsibilities as prime movers in their respective localities in times of disasters and calamities.
In Zamboanga Peninsula, the Tapatan on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaption will be held on June 19, 2012 at the Grand Astoria Hotel here with DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo as the guest of honor.

Expected to attend are provincial governors, city and municipal mayors including their respective Risk Reduction Disaster Action Officers, national government agencies (NGAs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) in the region.

The role and active involvement of participants to the activity are vital being one of the government’s prime partners in its effort towards a disaster-ready and resilient Philippines, Abutazil said.
