Zamboangueño dies in Isabela City blaze PDF Print E-mail

A resident of San Roque died during a fire that broke out at a rented house in Legaspi St., Isabela City at dawn yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Tony Fuentes, a vendor.

Police said that Fuentes died due to suffocation with slight injuries in the body.

A sketchy report disclosed that Fuentes was sleeping inside his rented room at the house owned by Adelwisa Octaviano, when the fire broke out around 2 a.m.

Firefighters rushed to the fire scene put the blaze under control an hour after. However, rescuers were terrified when they found the body of Fuentes inside his burnt room.

Authorities believe that Fuentes was in deep asleep when the fire started.

They said that Fuentes could have woken up amid the blaze but he failed go out as he was trapped amid flames.

Fire investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire. – Dan Toribio Jr.
