Militiaman killed, pal hurt in clash with NPA rebels PDF Print E-mail

A member of  the Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO) was killed while another was seriously wounded in an encounter with New People’s Army rebels in Bayog,  Zamboanga del Sur, last Monday morning, police said.

Killed was Guillermo Villacrusis, while fighting for his life in the hospital was Wilson Torres.

Villacrusis sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body while Torres was wounded in his right rib. 

A police report disclosed that the clash occurred around 8:30 a.m. while the victims were hunting for wild boar at the vicinity of Barangay Isidro.

The CVO members, while hunting for wild boar, encountered the rebel group numbering  more or less 15 operating under Section Committee Feliciano-A of Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee.

A firefight ensued which lasted for almost 20 minutes which resulted in the death of Villacrusis and the wounding of Torres.

There was no report of casualties on the NPA side.  The rebels managed to escape towards the neighboring barangay. — Noning R.Antonio
