Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Rommel Jalosjos has put up a rubber tree nursery and rubber plantation project in Barangay Balagon, Siay municipality.

The rubber tree nursery and plantation are program and project of the Governor under the so-called Rommel Apolinario Jalosjos Tripartite Rubber Expansion and Enhancement Program (RAJTREE ) intended for the farmers and people in the area.

Barangay Balogon is a valley surrounded by hills. Its major crop is rice because of its plain landscape. The temperature in the village is because of it elevated location.

After three to five years, Balogon will be covered with rubber and it can become a vacation area.

Gov. Jalosjos disclosed that before he assumed office, the provincial government has a huge bank debt and it was facing financial deficit.

He urged the people to make RAJTREE  a lifestyle because it is for their future and that of their children.

“Before you cut trees you must think twice because it endangers the environment. Let’s plant more trees for the preservation and protection of the environment. Let’s segregate and recycle our waste. Let’s make compost materials for organic fertilizers and for our environment. Let’s organize the people  in the barangay and help each other. Let’s work together and I hope we will move forward for progress and development,” Jalosjos said in his message to the Balogon folks.

Balogong Barangay Chairman Rogie S. Enriquez thanked Gov. Jalosjos for giving the barangay a rubber nursery and plantation.

Enriquez said that RAJTREE will sustain life, education, self sufficiency and the rubber industry will support other industries like food production. —  Allen Abastillas
