3 fishers robbed by pirates, plucked out of sea by fishing boat crewmen PDF Print E-mail

Three fishermen were rescued by a big fishing vessel off Maluso, Basilan last Monday night.

Rescued were Jimmy Isnilin, Robensa Tioga and Benjie Hussin, all residents of Tampalan, Malamawi, Isabela City.

A police report disclosed that the three went fishing off Duwa Bullod and Pilas Island around 2 p.m. Monday. Around 10 p.m. of the same day, four armed men aboard another pumpboat appeared and pointed their guns at them. They were ordered to jump in to the water.

The three terrified fishermen had no choice but obey order of the gunmen. They jumped into water at the gunmen took their pumpboat with double engines then sped away.

The three floated and swam for about an hour unti lthey were spotted by crewmen of F/B RCT 977, a fishing boat of the AMR Fishing Company. They were plucked out of the water by the fishing boat crew.

The three were taken to the AMR compound in Cawit and the following day they were turned over to the Ayala police station by personnel of the fishing firm led by Emmylou Magno. – Dan Toribio Jr.
