The continuity people expected from its top leadership going into the next couple of years is now nothing but a pipe dream.

This after two significant events happened that assured the partnership for progress, peace and development is broken up, all in the name of accommodation.

A couple of days ago Cong. Beng Climaco-Salazar formally declared her candidacy for mayor in 2013, boldly abandoning the comfort and certainty of another sure stint in congress as District 1 representative  if she so decided and slamming the door on Cong. Erbie Fabian, who on his final term as 2nd district representative was headed for the mayoralty post being vacated by last term Mayor Celso Lobregat.

Decisions crafted made it a point that Cong. Fabian will not be in the picture for 2013 as the mayor’s younger brother Jomar is touted to be the bet for Fabian’s second district seat with the Mayor entering the fray via Beng’s post in the west coast.

This was the blue print for the local leadership’s plan for 2013, with the third wheel in the cog effectively eased out and replaced by hizzoner’s brother.
Fabian, who earlier signified plans of retiring from politics himself, felt he was eased out of the equation in favor of accommodation and played a major part in his change of mind. Now, he plans to make a go at the mayoralty post with or without a coalition or a triumvirate partnership.

Fabian  said he is wrapping up consultations with the people in the city and an overwhelming wave and outpouring of support has flooded in from all sectors after it was made known    Fabian has been eased out of the political scenario for 2013.

The solon said he takes this a challenge to heed the call of the people and gun for mayor in May 2013 on his own.

The people of the city is the final arbiter, they will decide who the mayor of the city will be and not the dictates of a few.

Fabian said he will formalize his intentions and plans for 2013 on July 31 after he wraps up talks with people and some groups here in the city. He said he will do it in one of the barangays in the east coast.

He will also confer with the Nacionalista leadership on the plans saying as local chapter chairman he was given free reign in making decisions for the party here.

“It has served its purpose, those years of active cooperation in the past. Many things were accomplished yet on a personal level, I think more needs to be done, most of which do not seem to jive with the directions taken by the others’, the solon from Mercedes said.

I’am definitely not out of the equation by any chance, maybe in theirs but surely not in the people’s minds.

He said he will continue on taking the high road of decency in presenting himself to the people as in the past.

I have the utmost respect for everyone, may we all accord each other the decency, respect and cordiality and at the end of the day, people will make their choice so may the best person win, the solon added in parting.
