Zamboanga City is ready and needs to make the next big step into becoming the new tiger economy of the region and Mindanao.

This was the statement made by District 2 Rep. Erbie A. Fabian during a live television program yesterday morning hosted by Atty. Susan delos Reyes.

Rep. Fabian who confirmed during the show that he was definitely running in the 2013 elections for the post of mayor said he envisions a city to be the economic hub of Western Mindanao with a business friendly atmosphere conducive to investments inflow.

Fabian said setting up an atmosphere conducive for business is contingent on Zamboanga City, achieving a stable peace and order condition.

He said he wants more investments being poured into developing a framework for the establishment of lasting peace and order in the city.

The twin insights were a preview of the blueprint for Zamboanga City’s direction if and when the 2nd district solon gets the chance to be mayor of the city.

Fabian said there will be a proper time to unveil his platform of governance in the future but stressed he feels he wants to serve the people more and sees better things are ahead for the city.

Fabian envisions a participatory system of governance where consultations are made with all sectors concerned and all inputs considered when decisions are made.

While the city has remained the central hub for commerce and industry here, it has developed at a pace much slower than expected with neighboring provinces overtaking or set to overtake the city in terms of progress.

Fabian in the program ‘Accion na 13’ co-hosted by former city councilor Gerry Acuña said the key he thinks is improved business climate coupled with stable peace and order which could set off the city into the circle of power house economies such as Davao, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos City, Iligan and Ozamia here in Mindanao.

The solon confirmed he will formalize his mayoral bid with a formal announcement to be done July 31, feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola Patron saint of Tetuan, where the solon once resided.
