BANGUINGUI, Sulu  – The Department of Tourism  in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOT-ARMM)  has expressed optimism that the Manisan Beach Resort here will gain recognition in the outside world due to  its distinct  fine sand and pristine waters.

DoT-ARMM Asec. Maria Theresa  Reynon Sakkalahul said the distinct characteristic of the white and  fine sand of Manisan Beach  will made it very attractive to  foreign and local tourists.

Sakalahul lauded the effort exerted by couple Sulu Rep. Nur Anna Sahidulla (2nd District, Sulu) and husband Banguingui (Tongkil) Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidulla in the development of the  resort here.

According to Sakalahul, a little more finishing touches  of the beach like the construction of  hostel and tents along the coast line  will further invite tourists to visit and stay at the resort.

“Comfort is one of the things that tourists are looking for, like  the area where they can rest for a while or doing some sun bathing is one of the important thing that we should consider in the development of a resort,” she explained.

For his part, Mayor Sahidulla said more development at the beach will soon be seen as the blueprint for its full development is now being highly considered by him and his wife  Rep Sahidulla.

Late last month, Mayor Sahidulla in tandem with his wife Rep Sahidulla held  the 1st Kalalamihan Sin Banguingui Festival at the resort here  aimed at showcasing and promoting the tourism potentials of the municipality.

Over 500 local residents here  joinedthe opening of the 2-day festival with officials of the Department of  Tourism (DoT) and some foreign nationals as guests.

Rep Sahidulla believes that the two-day festivities have allowed them  to partially promote the other tourism sites in the municipality.

Rep. Sahidulla said Kalalamihan Sin Banguingui mean more fun in Banguingui, a local version of the  DoT slogan More Fun in  the Philippines.
The beach, Manisan Beach Resort is a Sama dialect which mean “beautiful,” she added.

Among the  DoT officials in attendance  during the  beach festival were DoT-ARMM Sec  Nashrina Badiri, DoT-ARMM Asec Shalimar Candao, DoT BaSulTa or Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi,  Asec Sakkalahul and DoT-Manila Dir Shalimar Hofer Tamano.
