The municipal council of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay has passed a resolution seeking to dismantle the “make believe” camp of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front known as Camp Salman in Barangay Tumanggong.

Sibugay Governor  Rommel Jalosjos together with Mayor Randy Climaco, Vice Mayor Abdurauf Abison and  Councilor Abdulsalam Jala presented the resolution to Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Noel  Coballes the other day.

“That Camp Salman is not a camp in itself. It is only a ‘make believe’ camp. A makeshift and a propaganda and used by Moro rebels for their lawlessness and criminalities to harass, victimize and extort helpless civilians for their vices and caprice. The people in Barangay Tumanggong are rubber tree farmers, farmers for corn, rice and cassava and other agricultural products for their sustainance. Moro rebels extort and harass them. The rebels camp is a make believe to mislead people for their propaganda. It should be psychologically dismantled by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police because it victimizes law abiding people,” Jalosjos said.

Mayor Climaco said that Moro rebels committed a lot of criminalities in the area. They burned  houses, extorted farmers from P200 to P 500. Police records showed they killed two policemen last June 3 , hacked to death one person and also killed a farmer.

“Their lawlessness should be stopped by the military and police and must brought the perpetrators to the bar of justice,” Climaco said. — Allen Abastillas
