Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday led city and barangay officials in the inauguration and turnover of the newly constructed barangay hall amounting to P4.2 million in Putik, bringing to more than P77 million the total amount of various projects the city government has implemented in the said barangay since 2007.

In his message, Lobregat urged the residents and barangay officials of Putik headed by Chairman Jerry Perez to take care of their new barangay hall, saying it was intended for them to be effective and efficient in the delivery of basic services to their constituents.

“The barangay is in the frontline of the government’s public service. Thus, his administration has been constructing uniquely-designed barangay halls practically in the city’s 98 barangays. More are still under construction will soon be unveiled as well,” the mayor said.

The Putik barangay hall bears the new design and is one of the most well-admired barangay halls in the city. The construction, undertaken by Melanza Construction Company, was realized after the city government purchased the over 500-square meter lot and finalized legal documents for the road right of way.

Lobregat said Putik is one of the barangays where the city government had invested so much in terms of infrastructure projects over a period of six years.
According to him, the city government under his stewardship has implemented P77,071,556.82 worth of various projects in Putik since 2007, the biggest bulk of which was the construction of slope protection, drainage and other flood-control facilities, considering that Putik is prone to flooding during heavy downpour.

In 2007, Putik received P13.6 million worth of projects, P10.8 million in 2008, P13.2 million in 2009, P11.9 million in 2010, P2.9 million in 2011, and P18 million in 2012, which included the new barangay hall.

About P6 million other projects to be implemented this year have been submitted to the city’s Bids and Awards Committee (BAC). These include the concreting of the road right-of-way at River Ville Morning Glory, improvement of slope protection, and construction of drainage system at Morning Glory.
