The possibility of fielding one unified ticket for the Nacionalista Party, Liberal Party and the National People’s Coalition or NPC coalition in the local polls next year is now being discussed by the coalition leaders, former Las Pinas congresswoman Cynthia Villar said yesterday.

Villar, who is joining the coalition senatorial line up said in an interview with Buenas Dias Zamboanga radio program hosted by this writer at 91.5 Wild FM is batting for District 2 Congressman Erbie Fabian to lead the coalition ticket in Zamboanga for next year’s local elections.

“That matter is now being discussed by the leaders of LP, NP and NPC. Being our city chairman, the NPC is pushing for Cong. Fabian to be the standard bearer of the coalition in Zamboanga,” said villar, wife of NP head Senator Manny Villar.

She said the parties in coalition may field their own local candidates if the alliance of LP, NP and NPC in the localities can be resolved.

“If these things ( local alliance) can not be compromised, we will most likely observe a free zone, meaning, we will support our candidates and they may support their own candidates,” Villar said.

“If Cong. Fabian is certain to run for Mayor next year, the NP will undoubtedly be behind him,” Mrs. Villar said, adding that the NP is also batting for the inclusion of four individuals under its fold in the senatorial ticket of the coalition. And they are reelectionists Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Antonio Trillanes, herself and former congressman Ace Barbers.

Although Fabian has yet to formally announce his mayoralty bid on July 31, the district 2 lawmaker has already hinted in many gatherings that he is sure of gunning for the top post in city hall.

“As I have said before, the NP will extend its all-out support for Cong. Fabian whatever his decision will be in next year’s election,” Villar said.
