The Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced in its  website the names of Chief Superintendents who were promoted to Police Directors (two-star general).

One of the promoted PNP generals in the key position in the PNP Directorial Staff is the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao (DIPO-WM) Police Director Manuel R. Barcena, MNSA.

They took their oath during a ceremony held at the multi-purpose center in Camp Crame in Quezon City last Wednesday

President Benigno Aquino III has approved the promotion of Barcena who is occupying one of the key positions in the PNP Directorial Staff.

Aquino signed the approval of the promotion on July 4, 2012 upon the recommendation submitted by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Chairman Jesse M. Robredo, and PNP Chief, Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome.

The PNP chief said the promotion of the PNP senior officers was carefully made and selected from the list of qualified candidates by the Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board (SOPPB).

Barcena got the one-star rank (Chief Superintendent) during his incumbency as the Executive Officer (EX-O) of the Directorate for Intelligence (DI) based in Camp Crame.

The DIPO-WM covers the area of Region 9, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Region 12. — EAL
