CPAs celebrate Accountancy Week July 15-21 PDF Print E-mail

The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), the accredited professional organization (APO) of CPAs in the country, will  observe Accountancy Week from July 15 to 21, 2012.

The theme for this year is “Upholding Ethics, Pursuing Excellence.”

In connection with this celebration, various activities have been lined up by the national office of PICPA and its chapters, respectively. For the Zamboanga-Basilan Chapter, the celebration will start with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Fort Pilar Shrine at 6 a.m.. on July 15, 2012, and will be followed immediately thereafter by a Hataw at the Paseo del Mar and a get-together breakfast in a nearby restaurant. On July 18, 2012, starting from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.  a Seminar on Electronic Registration of Businesses with POS is scheduled, and, at 1:30 p.m. same day, the members will pay a courtesy call on Atty. Alert Alocilja, the BIR Regional Director for Revenue Region 15.

On July 20, 2012, at 9 a.m., the chapter will sponsor a Taxation Quiz Bowl at the pool site restaurant of Marcian Garden Hotel. Competitors are students coming from the different schools, colleges and universities in Zamboanga City. Then at 6:00 p.m. on the same day, a friendly bowling tournament among the chapter’s members is scheduled at Tebi & Sean’s Recreational Center.

The celebration will culminate on July 21, 2012 by a visitation by the officers and members of the chapter to the Sharraffa Ysabelle Cancer, Inc. at the Zamboanga City Medical Center, at about 9 a.m..

Leading the local celebration is the newly-inducted PICPA-Zambas Chapter President Florivel M. de Jesus. The other officers serving with Ms. De Jesus for the fiscal year 2012-2013, are the following:
