“I leave it to the police and the military to solve the lawlessness and  criminalities committed by lawless elements against the people of Barangay Tumanggong. It is their mandate to bring and arrest the perpetrators to the bar of justice and justice must be served for the helpless people.”

Thus said Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Rommel Jalosjos in a press statement regarding the lawlessness and criminalities  committed by lawless elements against the people of Barangay Tumanggong in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Jalosjos said that the municipal government of Tungawan with the approval of Mayor Randy Climaco, Vice Mayor Abdurauf Abison and Councilor Abdulsalam Sala passed a resolution seeking the dismantling the camp of lawless elements in Barangay Tumanggong.

The camp put up by lawless elements in the area has affected the farmers and people, according to Tungawan officials.

The resolution was submitted to Western Mindanao  Command Chief Lt. Gen. Noel Coballes.      Most of the Tumanggong folks are engaged in rubber tree, corn, rice and cassava farming  and livestock raising.

Jalosjos clarified that he was  misquoted in an earlier news item which stated that MILF rebels  committed atrocities against the people.

“What I’ve said was that lawless elements committed crimes against the people. And I thank the Tungawan officials led by Mayor Climaco for passing the resolution calling authorities to dismantle and arrest the lawless  elements,” Jalosjos said.

He added: “I’ll do by best to ensure the safety and security of the people. Whatever actions of the police together with the military I’ll go for it so that peace and order will prevail in Barangay Tumanggong and the people will live a peacefully.” — Allen Abastillas
