A construction worker was killed, while two others were wounded in a bloody rumle at a construction site at Sitio Udjung, Bunguiao last Thursday night.
The fatality was identified as Robert Francisco y Alviar, 34, married. Wounded were Roel Martinez y Corcuerra, 44, married, farmer and Bernard Tagavilla y Dela Vega, 47, married, a foreman of the construction project.

Francisco sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and expired while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Martinez was also stabbed in the body while Tagavilla sustained a gunshot wound. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation disclosed that Martinez and his two nephews identified as Ruby and Renie Martinez were drinking at a videoke joint around 8 p.m.

After consuming several  bottles of beer, they returned to their barracks at a construction site where at that time Francisco and Tagavilla and other workers were already sleeping.

Police said that Martinez shouted and challenged anybody in the barracks to a fight. Francisco took his .38 caliber revolver and fired a warning shot to stop Martinez from getting closer to him.

However, Ruby and Renie grabbed the revolver from Francisco’s hand  then shot Tagavilla who was trying to pacify the incident. Martinez pulled out a knife and stabbed Francisco several times in the body but it was learned that the latter was able to resist by stabbing also the former. – Dan Toribio Jr.
