House Deputy Speaker and District 1 Rep. Beng Climaco has sought the assistance of Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas for immediate repair of a damage at the Zamboanga City port’s duct area  where a portion caved sending a top lift spreader down into a hole last weekend.

Climaco who visited the port area following the incident Friday said the damage will cause inconvenience to many of the ships that use the Zamboanga port as their point of entry for fishing and other business transactions.

Zamboanga Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc. (ZCCCI) president Eduardo Chua has sought the intervention of Cong. Climaco to help expedite the renovation of the said area.

“We have visited the site and we thank Mr. (Leonilo) Miole (Zamboanga Port Area Manager) for briefing us on the condition of the port. We want to respond to this soonest so that all transactions at the port would be free from inconvenience,” the lady solon said.

After visiting the area and gathering all details concerning the matter, the congresswoman immediately got in touch with Sec. Roxas.

She hoped that budget allocation for the dredging of the port area will be immediately approved by the Department of Transportation and Communication through Sec. Roxas. — Marvin Segura
