Despite the police having identified one of the suspects in the robbery-slay of a Chinese businesswoman, investigators are facing difficulty in filing a case against the suspects as relatives of the victim refuse to cooperate with them.

Determined to solve the killing of Mei Shi y Rong,  Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines and his men conducted full dressedinvestigation and mounted follow-up operations that resulted in the identification of one of the three gunmen who robbed and killed Shi

However, Delumpines said they failed to get the cooperation of the relatives as no one from them seemed interested in pursuing a case.

Delumpines disclosed that he personally appealed to Shi’s relatives to help the police in the filing of case and explained to them the legal process but he got no positive response.

It was learned that not even one member of Shi’s kin visited the central police station and execute sworn statement to be used in the filing of the case.
Delumpines said that one of the killers has a pending warrant of arrest for carnapping and he is being hunted by the police.

In year 2006, a similar incident happened in which a Chinese businessman was shot and robbed along Tomas Claudio St. near his rented apartment. A
suspect was arrested and jailed but was later granted by provisional liberty after the victims’ relatives failed to appear in court hearings.
