More than 400 children from Mampang and Tugbungan benefited from a two-day feeding program held by District 2 Councilor Miguel “Mike” Alavar III last Sunday and Monday.

The first-day feeding was held at the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church in Mampang last Sunday where more than 200 children joined.
Rodolfo Ramos, a purok leader and member of the Knights of Columbus, coordinated with the office of Alavar for the activity.

Alavar and his staff served the food to the children personally and were impressed by the support they received from parents who brought their children to the venue.

The second day feeding was held at the Tugbungan Elementary School where 200 Grade 5 pupils also received food prepared by Alavar and his staff.

Alavar and his men acted like waiters as they handed food to the pupils. They were assisted by some teachers led by Mrs. Grace Alvarez, a class adviser.

During the two-day activity, Alavar explained to the children the importance of eating vegetables. He advised them to continue eating vegetables for them to become healthy and bright.

Alavar described the two-day feeding program as very successful as he noted that at their young age, the children know what healthy foods are for.

Parents of the more than 200 children in Mampang, Ramos, Alvarez and the teachers of Grade 5 level of Tugbungan Elementary School expressed thanked to Alavar for his concern for the young people.

Alavar’s feeding program started more than six years ago. He has been pursuing the  feeding program as one of his priorities aside from livelihood, education and other endeavors. — Dan Toribio Jr.
