Today, July 20, is indeed another red-letter day for the officers and members of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines, Zamboanga City Chapter as they convene at the spacious and elegant Garden Orchid Convention Center along Gov. Camins Avenue for the Citywide Mid-Year Consultative Conference.

The program consisting of two parts will start with the registration at 8 a.m.of participants who will be attended to by their respective field office staff.

Mr. Virgilio 0. Librado, Field Office I, Federation President who was tasked to prepare the program for the occasion was obviously very proud and excited to present the invitation and program to the officers and members of the board during the July 13, 2012 regular meeting held at the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs in Sta. Barbara, this city.

Accordingly, the innovation introduced in the program is to bring out the hidden talents of the members coming from all barangays within the Field Office I. It is an opportunity for them to show that they do have what it takes to entertain everybody.

Invited to the occasion, are, of course, the Councilor Benjamin E. Guingona III, chairman of the Committee on Elderly and Disadvantaged Group, who will give the welcome remarks to be followed by the presentation of FSCAP officers and other senior citizens to be led by Uldarico S. Fabian, Chief- Welfare Division of the city.

Mayor Celso L. Lobregat will give his special message to the seniors, while Corazon C. Herico, FSCAP President, and Virgilio 0. Librado will do the honors of awarding a certificate of appreciation to the mayor for all his caring and acts of concern for all the young, once upon a time.

Also invited to grace the event and to inspire everybody with an inspirational message is the “Nina Palangga” of Zamboanga City’s 1st Legislative District, Congresswoman Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

DSWD Regional Director Teodulo R. Romo, Jr. is expected to update the senior citizens on the “Implementing Guidelines on the Death Benefit Assistance to the Nearest Surviving Relative of the Deceased Indigent Senior Citizens” and report on the Joint Memo-Circular No. I.

Mrs. Herico will present the Mid-Year Accomplishment Report, from January 2012 and also the Action Plan for July to December, 2012 as well as the highlights of the Mid-Year Accomplishment of Field Office I via Audio Visual.

Francisco L. Barredo, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, who is scheduled to bow out from government service soon, will do the response.
Part II of the program, which is after lunch, will be more on the entertainment portion as well as the drawing of raffle tickets sold at P10 for attractive major prizes and consolation prizes as well.

Assigned to bring down the curtain with the closing remarks is Virgilio 0. Librado, FOI Federation President.
