The 24th of July 2012 is indeed a special day for Southern City Colleges, Inc., one of La Bella’s oldest institutions for private education.

July 24, 2012 marks the centennial natal day of the institution’s founder, Francisco Magbag Caliolio (24 July 1912 – 03 October 2007), and, as such, special activities are planned for this day.

To kick of the day, a Thanksgiving Mass will be offered at 7:30 a.m. and is to be officiated by Msgr. Crisologo Manungas of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Immaculate Concepcion.

The blessing and inauguration of the quadrangle, dance studio, language center, computer units and gymnasium will follow immediately after the mass. The ribbon-cutting ceremonies will be done by Vice-Mayor Hon. Cesar Ituralde and Dr. Milavel Nazario and is to be assisted by Mr. Edwin M. Caliolio, the institution’s current President.

A pleasant morning repast awaits guests, visitors and school personnel after the blessing and inauguration.

To cap off the day, the institution will have its annual Blood Letting activity in cooperation and coordination with the Zamboanga Chapter of the Philippine. National Red Cross and the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

In continuing commemoration of its ”Founder’s Day” festivities, a select team of school personnel and students will make its long and arduous trip to the municipality of Lakewood in the province of Zamboanga del Sur on the 27th of the  July 2012  for its community  outreach project.

With the project aptly titled “AMOR UNIDAD YEAR ONE”, the activities to be undertaken include the donation of textbooks and five computer sets to the Lakewood National High School.

Foot wear and used clothing will likewise be given to the people. A feeding program will follow for undernourished children.

Highlight of the project will be the Medical and Dental Mission spearheaded by the institution and assisted by its partner the Dental Team of Edwin Andrews Air Base, the Medical and Dental Team of the First Infantry Battalion “TABAK” Philippine Army,
