The city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office has promptly responded to the fire incident that gutted down 16 houses in Logoy Grande extension in barangay Talon-talon Monday morning through the distribution of food assistance and other relief goods to affected families.

City Social Welfare and Development officer Francisco Barredo immediately after the incident deployed his staff to distribute food stuffs and other relief goods to the 25 families displaced due to the fire incident.

Reports from social workers on field show that of the total 25 affected families, 16 are house owners, 8 sharers and 1 renter.

The CSWD is currently finalizing assessment report of each of the family affected for the possible grant of financial assistance to the victims.
The victims are temporarily sheltered in houses of their relatives in the neighbourhood.

The city government, Barredo said, is ready and capable to assist victims whenever a calamity strikes.

After the food assistance, the cash assistance follows, depending on the extent of damage suffered by the victim. — Sheila Covarrubias
