House Deputy Speaker and District I Representative Beng Climaco will host the visit of Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma, Jr., Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) to Zamboanga City today.

Secretary Coloma will be the keynote speaker and inducting officer in the 31st Annual Induction Ceremonies of the Zamboanga Press Club, Inc. tomorrow, July 27 at the Celebrity Hall in Astoria Hotel.

Cong. Climaco facilitated the invitation to Sec. Coloma saying this is an opportune time for the media sector in Zamboanga be given an opportunity to link up with the Secretary whose office supervises all major government public communication and mass media organizations and is responsible in linking the Office of the President with all private mass media organizations.

“I hope that this will also give our city’s press the chance to ask important questions to the Secretary,” the lady solon said.

Coloma was appointed by President Noynoy Aquino to the position in August 2010 and tasked to supervise all major government public communication and mass media organizations including Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Broadcasting Service, Government Television Network, Philippine News Agency and National Printing Office. His office is also responsible for linking the office of the President with all private mass media organizations in the country.

Secretary Coloma has a weekly column for Business World, the leading Filipino business newspaper, since 1987 to present.

The Zamboanga Press Club Inc. is headed by Felipe Abuy III of RPN-DXXX. The induction theme is “31 untiring years of preserving press freedom through truthful journalism”. — Marvin Segura
