“We do not exploit our students  here in City High.”

Thus emphasized Dr. Felisa I. Munar,  Principal- IV,  of  Zamboanga City High School-Main in response to the so-called“human stand fan” issue “that does not seem to abate.”

Munar was referring to a picture of a boy holding an electric fan that was pointed at some guests including Mayor Celso Lobregat and Education Secretary Armin Luistro during the inauguration of a building at ZCHS-Main last Sunday that was spread in the internet including the social network facebook.

The principal stressed that the turn-over ceremony (of the building) was done in the sweltering sun and “the guests were sweating profusely and there was no electric fans around.  So they secured the electric fans that were available and the boy scouts  volunteered to take it from Mr. (Jesus) Francisco, senior-scout coordinator,  who was holding it first in the spirit of hospitality. “

On July 15, 2012, Julie Alipala, a local journalist, posted the picture of a boy holding an   electric fan on her facebook account. This elicited criticisms the emcee Mr. Joseph Wee, who happened to be standing near the boy with the electric fan.

“The issue seemed to have ended already after Mr. Wee confronted Ms. Alipala on the unfair publicity, in which  the latter apologized in her facebook account.  However, it was magnified when a journalist acquaintance of  Alipala posted it  in the internet and became a trending  article in yahoo.
