The panel of judges for the Great Sta. Cruz Island Beach Resort architectural design competition convened yesterday afternoon at City Hall Conference Room and completed their final evaluation of the six entries, three of which from the architecture students’ category and three from the professional architects’ category.

Mayor CelsoLobregat expressed elation over the outcome of the competition as the six entries presented different yet unique architectural designs and site development plans to make the Great Sta. Cruz Island a perfect eco-tourism attraction for Zamboanga City.

“So far, it’s so good. The judges are having difficult time evaluating because all the entries are beautifully designed,” the mayor said.

Basically, each entry consists of an administration building, a pontoon, picnic huts, comfort rooms and viewing decks, and a water desalination facility—all carefully designed to complement with the eco-tourism potentials of the island, without destroying its natural habitats.
