House Deputy Speaker and District 1 Rep. Beng Climaco will distribute new releases of health insurance cards benefitting 5,000 families from the different barangays in the city.

A total of P6 million has been allocated for the renewal of previously issued health insurance cards and the purchase of new cards for the different sectors of the city.

The distribution of the health cards will be done during barangay visits that will be scheduled in August. The cards are valid until 2013.

The recipients of the health insurance program, implemented in partnership with the Philhealth Insurance Corporation, are the different sectors composed of barangay officials, barangay health workers, indigent families, barangay intelligence network (BIN) volunteers, tanods, differently abled-sector, vendors and other indigent members of the community.

The continuing health insurance program is one of the priority projects of Cong. Climaco parallel to her medical assistance lodged under the Zamboanga City medical Center where she allocates a portion of her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

The program is likewise in support of President Noynoy Aquino’s call to enrol more people to Philhealth for access to medical services.

“This is our little way to allow our constituents in the district and other parts of the city, access to health services and get the proper medical attention,” Climaco always emphasize during distribution of Philhealth  cards.

She vows to continue pursuing health programs to complement and augment the programs and services being provided by the local government unit for the benefit of the people not only in District I but entire Zamboanga City. — Marvin Segura
