Ex-con shot dead; gunman, also ex-con, nabbed PDF Print E-mail

An ex-convict was shot dead by another ex-convict in Barangay Lower Mangusu, in the city’s east last Thursday night.

The gunman was arrested by men of the Vitali Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh less than 12 hours after the incident.

The fatality was identified as Victor Sebastian y Bernardo, who served time for murder at the San Ramon Penal Colony and a resident of Curuan. He was shot by Ronald Umboy y Napalcruz, also an ex-convict and a resident of Camino Nuevo, Vitali.

Tuttuh said they immediately went on hot pursuit operation after the shooting  until they reached Barangay Limaong where they arrested Umboy.
Tuttuh said they were still on follow-up operation to find the .45 cal. pistol used by Umboy in killing Sebastian.

The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. at Lower Mangusu.

Investigation showed that Sebastian and Umboy had been drinking at the the house of Sebastian’s sister. After consuming several bottles of beer, the duo decided to go to a nearby store to buy more beer. They boarded a motorcycle owned by Umboy.

However, while on their way to the store, Umboy suddenly pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and pumped a bullet into Sebastian’s head.

The victim died on the spot while Umboy escaped towards Limaong.

Meanwhile, the same team led by Tuttuh arrested Adolfo Barrera of Limaong who was wanted for murder.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Reynerio Estacio of the Regional Trial Court Branch 14, — Dan Toribio Jr.
