The city government of Zamboanga is joining the 23rd Philippine Travel Mart which opens today until August 12 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The City Tourism Office announced this yesterday, saying Zamboanga will showcase the soon-to-be developed Sta. Cruz Island about 1.9 nautical miles across the city’s mainland.

Today, the city will host lunch for tour operators, media personalities, tourism attachés of the different embassies, consulate offices in Manila and other dignitaries.

The city government aims to extensively promote the Zamboanga’s tourism industry by setting up a booth at the expo, featuring of the different tourism attractions plus giveaways like gift certificates courtesy of the different tourism-oriented establishments in the city.

The biggest and longest running travel trade exhibition dedicated to the promotion and marketing of inbound and domestic tourism.

This year’s event is anchored on the theme, “It’s More Fun in the  Philippines,” in support of the branding campaign launched by the Department of Tourism.

It will also feature heavily discounted tour packages that will be promoted and marketed during the three-day exhibition.

Not to be missed during the Philippine Travel Mart are the yearly Special Events and Competitions open to students - Cultural Dance Competition, Tourism Quiz Bee, Bituin ng  Kasuotang Pilipino, Eco-chorale, and Biyahe Info seminars.
