The National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrative Committee yesterday served a summon to the 10 members of the Zamcelco board and to General Manager Reynerio Ramos giving them 10 days to submit their individual answer and counter affidavit on charges of alleged involvement in questionable transactions of the cooperative.
No less than Zamcelco board president Rolando Gregorio made this announcement over the radio that the confrontation the other day with NEA Ad.Com at Zamcelco office was not a meeting, but an occasion where a summon was served to them.
“Personally, I will get my own lawyer. Anyway, there is nothing to hide in so far as the board is concerned. Transactions that are in question were properly supported by resolutions,” Gregorio said with confidence as he expressed optimism that everything will return to normal after the investigation.
According to Gregorio, NEA officials will conduct a proper hearing among those who received the summon early next year.
“What we are preparing now is our answer to the NEA’s final audit report. What worries us is our request for the NEA to allow the cooperative to release the bonus for the employees,” Gregorio said.
Because of this, the application for a P50, 000 Christmas bonus for Zamcelco employees including members of the board has yet to be approved by NEA.
Gregorio said it is not purely the decision of the board, but a resolution that was passed and forwarded to them by the Zamcelco Employees Association asking for their favorable action and asking NEA for the granting of the P50,000 bonus this month.
Last year, each regular employee received P30,000 Christmas bonus while members of the board received P35,000.
If not because of this year’s high system loss, Gregorio said, their request for P50, 000 Christmas bonus would have already been approved by NEA.
However, Gregorio expressed optimism that NEA would still approve their request, especially for the regular employees, not necessarily following the amount they have requested.
