The San Ramon Power, Inc., in conjunction with the mayor’s office, distributed to the various elementary schools in the west coast a work book in the local dialect entitled, “El Primer Alfabeto Chabacano.”

The work book is authored by Prof. Roberto B. Torres of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU). The printing of the publication was sponsored by Mayor Celso L. Lobregat. The recipients of the work book were pupils of the different elementary schools adjacent to San Ramon where the proposed 100-megawatt coal-fired plant by SRPI is being planned.

It is a work book following the sequence “Juga-Aprende-Engranda junto”. The pupils will enjoy the work book and at the same time know how the Chabacano dialect correlates to objects and animals, among other things.

The distribution of the work books in part of SRPI’s community relations program to upgrade the facilities and learning processes of elementary schools. During the opening of classes last June, SRPI distributed school paraphernalia like pencils and notebooks to the pupils. — BJ
