Government men raided another illegal logging site in the eastern part of the city and confiscated several lumber flitches the other day.

The raid was carried out at Sitio Kampo Kuatro, Barangay Vitali, a police report reaching the office of City Police Director Sr. Supt. James Mejia disclosed.
The report said that a concerned resident had informed authorities on the presence of four men hauling illegally-cut trees.

Acting on the information, SPO4 Ruben Najirul, environmental desk officer, in coordination with Forestry Specialist Pilarito Montebon and Forester Ehinimo Angeles, team leader of ENR Vitali, swooped down Kampo Kuatro for ocular inspection.

However, upon the arrival of the team, the four suspected illegal loggers scampered in different directions and eluded arrest.

Najirul and his team confiscated a power chainsaw and 40 flitches of Gemelina tree with equivalent board feet of 1,625 having estimated value of P60,750.
Mejia disclosed that the illegal logging activity was a violation of executive order number 23. The case will be filed against the four suspects who escaped as soon their identities will be known.

The seized flitches and power chainsaw were turned over to CENRO East in Sitio Lantawan, Pasonanca for disposition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
