There is a possibility that last term Congressman Erbie A. Fabian, who is one of three politicians who have declared their intention for the mayoralty post, will team up with Councilor Rommel “Meng” Agan in the 2013 elections.

This came after Fabian met Agan yesterday and talked with him on various topics including politics.

“We talked on several  topics including politics, our Ateneo (de Zamboanga) days, good governance and my 10-point agenda which I had already announced,” Fabian told Daily Zamboanga Times.

The solon did not give other details about their meeting and conversation except to say that “we have mutual understanding.”

“He (Agan) is definitely a nice man,” said Fabian, who stood as ring bearer in the wedding of the councilor’s parents, the late mayor Vitaliano Agan and Mrs. Nenita Samonte Agan.

Contacted for comment on the meeting with Fabian, the boyish councilor smilingly confirmed that they have indeed talked about politics, but “nothing is definite.”

Fabian has declared independence after he was junked by the political faction of Mayor Celso Lobregat that favored  Cong. Beng Climaco for the mayoralty post in the 2013,  He has recently declared his intention for the city’s top political post during a gathering in Culianan.

On the other hand, Agan, a lawyer and certifified public accountant, has not given any commitment to any political group, including the Jalosjos group which had earlier offered him a slot for the 2013 polls.

In a separate interview, Fabian said he will likely seek to align myself with candidates who share a common vision for a better Zamboang City.

After declaring his candidacy for Mayor last July 31 in Culianan, Fabian has kept mum on his plans to form his own party and name his party mates for the midterm polls.

He has continued on his usual stomp and activities by his lonesome and has kept his plans under wraps.

He hinted though he is looking at forging tactical alliances with some key political figures here outside of the parties of proclaimed rivals Rep. Climaco-Salazar and former Cong. Romeo Jalosjos who are with party machineries this early in the run.

The solon added, his only rule on the matter is that there must be a shared vision on what is envisioned for the good of the city and its people.

Fabian, being the Nationalista Party figurehead in the city has the authority from the national NP leadership to form a party or coalesce with any group or individuals who will ensure continuity with the party’s stand on key issues at stake.
