A housemaid was arrested after she allegedly ran away with P200,000 belonging to her employer last Tuesday.

Nabbed was Rosalinda Nanas, a resident of Barangay Tictapul. She was arrested by operatives of the Investigation Section led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines during a follow-up operation.

Investigation disclosed that around 9 a.m., Wednesday, couple Ebelen Hadjirul y Salvador, 33, and her husband Sinitor Hadjirul, both residents of Fernandez Drive, San Jose Gusu, appeared at the central police station and reported that their housemaid (Nanas) left without permission. At the same time they discovered their P200,000 and jewelry worth P400,000 missing.

Delumpines said that Nanas cleaned the house of her employers around 7:30 a.m. last Tuesday and at 6 p.m. of the same day she left.

The couple found out that their money and jewelry kept inside a suitcase were missing.

After the complaint was filed, Delumpines and his men proceeded to Nanas’ residence in Tictapul and recovered from her possession four bundles of money in different denominations amounting to P122, 750. It was kept in her mother’s house.

Nanas was arrested and the money was retrieved by the police.

During investigation, Nanas told the police that she hid the jewelry inside the couple’s bedroom. They later found it in that place. — Dan Toribio Jr.
