Men of the Police Traffic Section under the supervision of City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo arrested one of two gunmen who shot and killed a resident of Balas, Lamitan and wounded his barangay chairman-father in downtown Zamboanga City yesterday morning.

The suspect was identified as Marlshajidkan Dangkalan, a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, a native of Siasi, Sulu and temporarily residing in San Roque. His cohort a certain Ben eluded arrest.

Deocampo disclosed that the shooting took place around 10:15 a.m. near Philippine National Bank where the victims were identified as Ibno Akmad, a barangay chairman of Balas, Lamitan and his son Benmar.

Ibno was wounded, while Benmar was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Policemen of the Traffic Section who were detailed near the scene of shooting responded and chased with the two suspects who were aboard a motorcycle.

Dankahan was cornered along Claveria St., while the motorcycle was recovered abandoned near the Sta. Barbara mosque. Ben was nowhere to be found after Dangkahan was arrested.

Dangkahan told the police that they shot the father and son in revenge of the killing of his father allegedly by Ibno several years ago.
