Beng receives 2012 TESDA Regional Kabalikat Award PDF Print E-mail

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) conferred to House Deputy Speaker Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco and the First Congressional District of Zamboanga City the 2012 Regional KABALIKAT Award under the Legislative Category during TESDA’s 18th Anniversary on August 24 at TESDA Women’s Center, Taguig City.

Sec. Joel Villanueva, Director-General of TESDA, presented Deputy Speaker Climaco the Regional KABALIKAT Award in grateful recognition of Zamboanga City’s First District exemplary contribution in the advancement of technical education and skills development in the country.

The Office of the 1st Congressional District of Zamboanga City has accomplished many of its priority programs and projects aimed at uplifting the lives of its constituents. Among these programs are efforts covering technical education and skills development that helped many families augment their income or land jobs that improved their stature in life.

For 2009-2011, Climaco’s office has allocated more than P4 million for scholarship programs benefitting thousands of individuals which provided them opportunities for wage and self-employment. The programs further complemented by other livelihood initiatives such as the Beng Entre-Negosyo Caravan
which promotes business opportunities within the barangays under the district.

TESDA and Climaco’s partnership in programs and projects are all geared towards empowering the people by enhancing their capabilities to support their families and becoming productive citizens of Zamboanga City.

The Kabalikat Award of TESDA is conferred to outstanding individuals, institutions and private firms for their contribution to the promotion and development of the country’s middle level manpower in terms of skills, abilities and proper work attitude. — Marvin Segura
