The Sta. Maria Police Station has embarked on a campaign against lawless groups, gun ban and “boga”.

Sta. Maria Police Station commander Chief Insp. Larry Domingo met with officials of the military’s Task Force Zamboanga last Friday for the establishment of joint checkpoints and random mobile joint patrol operations in the different areas under his areas of jurisdiction.

Domingo disclosed that he will maximize the assignment of his men because his areas of jurisdiction is vast covering seven barangays — Barangay Sta. Maria Tumaga, Pasonanca, San Roque, Cabatangan, Capisan, Upper Dulian with Sitios Abong-Abong and  Murok.

“That is why  I’m working with Task Force Zamboanga under Col.  Buenaventura Pascual because my AOR is very big with a population of 105,483. My men are only 76 with three officers that includes me.  My police population ratio  is one policeman for every 1,350 persons. The station has three old motorvehicles plus one Suzuki bitso-bitso,” Domingo said.

He revealed that in most of the shooting indicents in his AOR, the perpetrators and victims are not from the barangays.

Domingo’s police investigators also found out that most shooting incidents in his AOR are results of personal disputes.

Domingo urges the populace in his areas of jurisdiction to help them in crime solutions. — Allen Abastillas
