The Highway Patrol Group-9 recently conducted a “Motorcycle Anti-Street Crime Operations Training” (MASCOT) in Camp Abendan, Barangay Mercedes, this city.

HPG-9 Deputy Chief Supt. James Ramos said it was the second training the HPG-9 Motorcycle Riders conducted. The first was held last July.

The 43 participants of the second one-week MASCOT are selected  operatives of the 9th Regional Public Safety Battalion, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, Zamboanga del  Norte and Zamboanga del Sur.

The training is intended to train policemen on how to combat lawlessness in the street committed by criminals on motorcycles, and to fight all types of crimes where the perpetrators use motorcycles to escape.

The participants were trained by HPG9 motorcycle expert riders led by Insp. Jonard Tolorio on motorcycle driving technics, safety and security driving technics in pursuit operations against motorcycle-riding criminals.
