Government forces arrested a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group at the old public market last Monday afternoon.

Arrested was Margani Mukammali alias Abu Isaac of Lower Calarian, this city. He was nabbed along Row D around 4 p.m. by operatives of police and military intelligence operatives.

Police said Mukammali was arrested on the strength of a warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention for seven counts with corresponding case numbers 3432, 3551, 3552, 3566, 3567, 3569 and 3570.

The warrant was issued by Judge Leo Jay Principe of Branch 1 of the 9th Judicial Region of the Isabela City Regional Trial Court dated January 28, 2008.

Mukammali was spotted at the market and was positively identified by witnesses.

Mukammali was placed under tactical interrogation at the intelligence section of the Edwin Andrews Air Base pending his turnover to the court in Isabela City. — Dan Toribio Jr.
